  Planta pequeña bulbosa de hojas lanceoladas, flores amarillas, frutos carnosos en forma de cápsula y semillas negras. La infusión de las flores se ha usado para regular el flujo menstrual y provocar abortos. Crece silvestre en tierras arenosas y húmedas de la Isla de Puerto Rico. Está distribuida en las Indias Occidentales, Centro y Sur América. Small bulbous plant with lance shaped, yellow flowers, fleshy fruits in the shape of a capsule, and black seeds. An infusion of the flowers has been used to regulate menstrual flow and as an abortive. It grows wild in the sandy humid soils of Puerto Rico. It can also be found in thee West Indies, Central, and South America.
