  Planta que tiene flores blancas o verdosas y frutos en forma de plátano pequeño que al madurar liberan las semillas livianas sedosas al viento. Produce látex al cortarse. En la medicina casera se ha usado como vomitivo. Habita en riberas de ríos y terrenos a elevaciones bajas y medias en Puerto Rico. Está distribuida en las Indias Occidentales. Plant that has white or greenish flowers and fruits in the shape of a small banana. When the fruit ripens, it releases light and silky seeds to the wind. It produces latex when cut. In home remedies, it has been used as a vomitive. It grows along shores of rivers and in terrains at low and to average elevations in Puerto Rico. It is distributed in the West Indies.
