Description
The flowers of Lecythis retusa arise from an unbranched inflorescence, the sepals and hypanthium possess mucilage ducts, the calyx-lobes are imbricate at their bases, a staminal ring lip is present, the proximal hood extension gives rise to vestigial stamens which sometimes display considerable fusion, an anterior hood extension is present, the hypanthium possesses mucilage ducts, the style is obliquely oriented, and the placentae arise from the lower septum.
