Jahrb. 42: 210. 1908.—"Bahia: Catinga bei Calderao [located, op. cit. p. 196, in "Gebiet des Rio das Contas," i.e. the village of Caldeirao ±25 km s.-w. of Maracas near 13°35'S, 40°35'W] (Ule n. 7250.—Okt. 1906)."—Holotypus, †B = F Neg. 16691 neoholotypus, former isotypus, HAMB! = NY Neg. 8912; isotypus, K! = IPA Neg. 1145 = NY Neg. 1546.
Stems and lf-stalks setulose and villosulous but the main axis or this and the pedicels smooth and glabrous; lvs as described in the varietal key, the lfts bicolored but not strongly so, glabrous on both faces or thinly pilosulous along midrib beneath, the tertiary venulation finely prominulous on both faces.—Collections: 10.
Habitat scarcely known, sometimes (perhaps always) in caatinga, ± 150-700 m, both slopes of Sa. Geral in the drainage of Rios Paraguagu, Contas and Pardo, centr. & s.-e. Bahia.—Fl. IX-II.
