Description
Since the publication of de Zeeuw's treatment of the wood anatomy of neotropical Lecythidaceae, the circumsciption of Cariniana has changed. The species with six petals, zygomorphic androecia, and reticulate tertiary venation remain in Cariniana to which another species, C. parvifolia, has been added (Mori et al., 1995). The eight species with five petals, actinomorphic androecia, and percurrent tertiary venation have been transferred to Allantoma (Huang et al., 2008). Allantoma lineata is a species with actinomorphic flowers.
