Description
The placentae of this species occur in the middle of the lower septum such that the lower part of the lower septum and the lower part of the upper septum are free of ovules. The locules are vertically oriented and longer than wide. These features, along with six locular ovaries, separate this genus from all other neotropical Lecythidaceae.
