  Planta rastrera que se identifica por las espinas agudas encorvadas, flores blancas o rosadas en cabezuelas y frutos en vainas. En la base de las hojas y hojuelas tiene una hormona que al tacto transmite un estímulo haciendo que se cierren como si estuvieran marchitas. Crece en terrenos cultivados, baldíos y orillas de carreteras en elevaciones bajas, medias y altitudes en Puerto Rico. Está distribuida en las Antillas, América Tropical y naturalizada en Asia. Creeping plant that is identified by bent acute thorns, white or pink flowers in small heads, and fruits in pods. At the base of the leaves and leaflets is a hormone that on contact transmits a stimulus causing them to close, as if withered. It grows in cultivated, uncultivated lands and along borders of highways at low and medium elevations in Puerto Rico. It is distributed in the Antilles and Tropical America, and has been naturalized in Asia.
