  Árbol siempre verde de 15 a 25 pies de alto y 6 pulgadas de diámetro en el tronco. Se distingue por el color rosado o rojo del nervio principal de las hojas, flores blancas tubulares en racimos laterales y frutos en cápsulas grises o castaño. Es endémico de los bosques de las montañas de Puerto Rico. Evergreen tree of fifteen to 25 feet of height and 6 inches of diameter in the trunk. It is characterized by the pink or red color of the main vein of the leaves, tubular white flowers in lateral racemes, and fruits in gray or brown capsules. It is endemic of the forests of the mountains of Puerto Rico.
