  Arbusto siempre verde de 10 pies de alto y 3 pulgadas de diámetro en el tronco. Se distingue por las hojas elípticas opuestas, flores tubulares amarillo claro en racimos terminales en ramas anaranjado brillante tornándose púrpura y frutos carnosos negruzcos redondeados. Es abundante en bosques costeros húmedos, calizos húmedos, Sierra de Luquillo y Cordillera Central en Puerto Rico. Está distribuido en las Antillas, desde América Central hasta Bolivia, Brasil y las Guyanas. Evergreen shrub of 10 feet of height and 3 inches of diameter in the trunk. It is characterized by the elliptical opposed leaves, pale yellow tubular flowers in terminal shiny orange racemes in branches, eventually turning purple, and round fleshy blackish fruits. It is abundant in the coastal humid and humid calcareous forests of the Mountain range of Luquillo and the Central Mountain range in Puerto Rico. It is distributed in the Antilles and from Central America to Bolivia, Brazil and the Guyanas.
