  Árbol siempre verde de 20 pies de alto y 4 pulgadas de diámetro en el tronco. Se distingue por las ramas horizontales esbeltas, flores blancas pequeñas en la base de las hojas y frutos verdosos carnosos. Las sustancias tánicas de esta planta se han empleado como astringentes para curar heridas. Es poco común encontrándose en los bosques calizos húmedos, la baja y alta Cordillera Central y Sierra de Luquillo. Está distribuido en las Antillas, desde México hasta América Central y parte del territorio de América del Sur. Evergreen tree of 20 feet of height and 4 inches of diameter in the trunk. It is characterized by the svelte horizontal branches, small white flowers at the base of the leaves, and greenish fleshy fruits. The tanning substances have been used like astringent to cure wounds. It is uncommon, and found in the humid calcareous forests, at the low and high elevations of the Central Mountain range and of the Mountain range of Luquillo. It is distributed in the Antilles and from Mexico to Central America and part of territory of South America.
