• Description

  Árbol siempre verde de 15 pies de alto y 3 pulgadas de diámetro en el tronco. Se distingue por tener ramas largas esbeltas, hojas pequeñas ásperas tiesas encorvadas hacia abajo, flores diminutas blancuzcas o amarillentas y cápsulas acorazonadas de color anaranjado. Esta especie es común en los mogotes costeros secos y húmedos al suroeste de Puerto Rico. Está distribuido en La Española y Vírgen Gorda. Evergreen tree of fifteen feet of height and 3 inches of diameter in the trunk. It is characterized for the long svelte branches, small stiff rough leaves bent downwards, tiny whitish or yellowish flowers, and heart shaped capsules of color orange. This species is common in dry coastal wooded hills and in humid forests to the Southwest of Puerto Rico. It is distributed in Hispaniola and Virgin Gorda.
