  Arbusto de 15 pies de alto, hojas pequeñas en ramitas cortas, flores rojo escarlata y frutas redondas color castaño, amarillo o rojizo con muchas semillas rodeadas de jugo rosado o rojo. Los capullos de las flores y conchas de las frutas tienen propiedades astringentes utilizadas en heridas y úlceras, en infusión para controlar las diarreas. La corteza de la raíz y del tallo se ha empleado como vermífugo. Este árbol de frutos comestibles se cultiva en huertos caseros. Es nativo del Mediterráneo y cultivado en regiones tropicales y subtropicales del Mundo. Shrub of fifteen feet of height, small leaves in short small branches, red scarlet round flowers, and brown yellow or reddish fruits with many seeds in a pink or red juice. Flower buds and fruit shells have astringent properties used in wounds and ulcers. The infusion has been used to control diarrheas. The crusts of the root and the stem have been used to control fevers. This tree of edible fruits is cultivated in home orchards. It is native of the Mediterranean and has been cultivated in Tropical and Subtropical regions of World.
