  Planta herbácea con muchas espigas de flores blancas pequeñas que abren en sucesión y ganchos en las semillas que le ayudan a la dispersión al adherirse a los pelos de los animales, ropa de los humanos y terreno. Posee un olor fuerte a ajo. La infusión de la raíz se ha empleado como antiespasmódico, contra la inflamación de la vejiga, coyunturas y el asma. Posee propiedades diuréticas. Crece silvestre en terrenos en elevaciones medias de Puerto Rico. Está distribuida en las Antillas, América Tropical, Asia y África. Herbaceous plant with many spikes of small white flowers that open in succession and hooks in the seeds that help in dispersion, adhered to the hairs of animals, clothes of humans, and soil. It has a strong scent of garlic. The infusion of the root has been used like an antispasmodic, to reduce bladder and joint inflammation, and against asthma. It has diuretic properties. It grows wild in terrains at medium elevations of Puerto Rico. It is distributed in the Antilles, Tropical America, Asia and Africa.
