  Planta erecta o rastrera que enraíza en los nudos inferiores del tallo con hojas gruesas carnosas de pecíolos alados, inflorescencia en espigas de muchas flores y frutos en bayas. Crece en árboles y rocas de los bosques de Puerto Rico y la Isla de Vieques. Está distribuida en las Antillas y desde Panamá hasta Venezuela. Straight or creeping plant that takes root in inferior knots of the stem, with thick fleshy leaves, winged petioles, inflorescence in spikes of many flowers, and fruits in berries. It grows in trees and rocks of the forests of Puerto Rico and the Island of Vieques. It is distributed in the Antilles and from Panama to Venezuela.
