  Arbusto siempre verde de 12 a 15 pies de alto y 2 a 3 pulgadas de diámetro en el tronco. Se distingue por las hojas grandes finas elípticas alternas, flores blancas extendidas lobuladas en forma de estrella en racimos y bayas redondas amarillas. Crece a lo largo de carreteras, lugares abiertos, riberas de ríos, bosques de la costa húmeda, zona caliza y base de las montañas de Puerto Rico. Está distribuido en La Española, las Antillas Menores, América Central y parte del territorio de América del Sur. Evergreen shrub of 12 to 15 feet of height and 2 to 3 inches of diameter in the trunk. It is distinguished by the large fine elliptical alternating leaves, lobed extended star shaped white flowers in mallets, and yellow round berries. It grows along highways and shores of rivers, in cleared places and forests of the humid coast, calcareous zone, and at the bases of mountains of Puerto Rico. It is distributed in Hispaniola, the Lesser Antilles, Central America, and part of the territory of South America.
