  Arbusto siempre verde de 3 a 10 de alto y 3 pulgadas de diámetro en el tronco. Se reconoce por los vellos verde blancuzco en forma de estrella en las ramitas, hojas y frutos, flores blancas en forma de estrella y bayas redondeadas amarillas. Las hojas contienen saponinas usadas para quitar la grasa de utensilios de mesa. Las hojas amortiguadas han servido contra los dolores de cabeza, los cigarrillos de las hojas disecadas para controlar el asma y como analgésico sobre úlceras y verrugas. Esta especie es poco común en áreas abiertas, malezas y bosques del oeste de Puerto Rico y las Islas de Mona, Caja de Muerto y Vieques. Está distribuido en las Antillas y desde México hasta el norte de América del Sur. Evergreen shrub from three to 10 of height and 3 inches of diameter in the trunk. It is recognized by the green whitish star shaped hairs in the small branches, leaves, and fruits; white star shaped flowers, and round yellow berries. The leaves contain soapy substances that have been used to wash out grease silverware. The crushed leaves have been used against headaches and cigarettes of the dissected leaves to control asthma and like an analgesic on ulcers and warts. This species it is uncommon, found in clearings, thickets, and forests of the West of Puerto Rico and the Islands of Mona, Caja de Muerto, and Vieques. It is distributed in the Antilles and from Mexico to the North of South America.
