  Arbusto siempre verde de 3 a 10 pies de altura y 4 pulgadas de diámetro en el tronco. Se caracteriza por las hojas coriáceas con bordes virados hacia abajo, flores grandes fragantes solitarias con tubos estrechos de lóbulos redondeados blancuzcos teñidos de rosa y frutos carnosos redondos. Este árbol raro que podría ser útil como ornamental es endémico de bosques enanos, cimas de las montañas del este, Sierra de Luquillo y Cayey en Puerto Rico. Evergreen shrub of three to 10 feet of height and 4 inches of diameter in the trunk. It is characterized by the leathery leaves with edges bent downwards, large fragrant solitary flowers with narrow round lobes of whitish and pink hues, and fleshy round fruits. A tree that could be useful as an ornamental is endemic and rare found in the dwarfed forests, the summits of mountains of the East, the Mountain range of Luquillo, and the Mountain range of Cayey in Puerto Rico.
