  Arbusto siempre verde de 3 a 10 pies de altura con flores fragantes estrechas solitarias blancas con el centro purpúreo tornándose amarillo de lóbulos extendidos en los extremos de las ramas y frutos redondos amarillos. Esta especie que se ha cultivado como árbol ornamental es poco común en los bosques costeros húmedos, la baja Cordillera Central del este y centro de Puerto Rico y la Isla de Vieques. Está distribuido en las Antillas. Evergreen shrub of three to 10 feet of height. It is characterized by the fragrant narrow solitary white flowers with a purple to yellow center, and extended lobes at the end of the yellow small branches, and round fruits. A species that has been cultivated as an ornamental tree is uncommon, found in the humid coastal forests at the low Central Mountain Range of the East and center of Puerto Rico and the Island of Vieques. It is distributed in the Antilles.
