  Arbusto que puede crecer hasta 15 pies de altura. Tiene hojas de pecíolos largos, flores pequeñas rojo escarlata y frutos trilobulados en cápsulas redondas amarillas. Contiene sustancias venenosas y exuda látex en abundancia. El aceite de las semillas tiene efectos catárticos. Se ha cultivado como planta ornamental. Crece en la zona suroeste de Puerto Rico. Está distribuido en las Antillas, América Tropical e introducido al Viejo Mundo. Shrub that can grow to 15 feet of height. It has leaves of long petioles, red scarlet small flowers, and tri lobed fruits in yellow round capsules. It contains poisonous substances and exudes latex in abundance. The oil of the seeds has cathartic effects. It has been cultivated as an ornamental. It grows in the Southwestern zone of Puerto Rico. It is distributed in the Antilles, Tropical America and introduced to the Old World.
