  Árbol siempre verde de 30 pies de alto y 6 pulgadas de diámetro en el tronco. Tiene hojas serradas dispuestas en un plano de dos hileras y flores blanco verdosas acampanadas en racimos en la base de las hojas. Este árbol se usa para postes y combustible. Abunda a lo largo de carreteras, bosques de la base de las montañas y zonas calizas costeras húmedas de Puerto Rico. Está distribuido en Cuba, La Española y parte del territorio Centro y Suramericano. Evergreen tree of 30 feet of height and 6 inches of diameter in the trunk. It has serrated leaves arranged in a plane of two rows and greenish white shaped bell shaped flowers in mallets at the base of the leaves. This tree is used for posts and fuel. It abounds along highways and in forests at the base of mountains and humid coastal calcareous zones of Puerto Rico. It is distributed in Cuba, Hispaniola and areas of South and Central America.
