  Planta herbácea perenne flotante que enraíza en el sustrato. Se identifica por las hojas redondeadas con tonalidades púrpuras en el envés y flores solitarias blancas llamativas que abren durante el día. Tiene como hábitat los humedales de agua dulce de Puerto Rico. Está distribuida en las Antillas, Texas y América Tropical. Herbaceous floating perennial plant that takes root in the substrate. It is identified by the round leaves with purple hues on the reverse, and the attractive white solitary flowers that open during the day. It has its habitat in the fresh water wetlands of Puerto Rico. It is distributed in the Antilles, Texas, and Tropical America.
