  Árbol siempre verde de 35 pies de alto y 6 pulgadas de diámetro en el tronco. Se reconoce por el tronco acanalado, flores grandes blancas teñidas de rosa en racimos vistosos, algunos órganos cubiertos por vellos costrosos y hojas con venación melastómica. Se sugiere que de esta especie se realicen experimentos para evaluar su potencial de uso en la ornamentación. Habita en los bosques bajos de la Sierra de Luquillo y Cordillera Central de Puerto Rico. Se encuentra también en las Antillas Mayores, Menores, México y parte del territorio Centro y suramericano. Evergreen tree of 35 feet of height and 6 inches of diameter in the trunk. It is recognized because it has a channeled trunk, large white pink hued flowers in attractive racemes, some organs covered by crusty hairs, and a typical venation. It has been suggested that experiments should be made to evaluate the potential use in ornate. It grows in the low forests of the Mountain range of Luquillo and of Central Mountain range of Puerto Rico. It is also in the Greater and Lesser Antilles, Mexico, and parts of the territory of South and Central America.
