  Cross-section of an ovary of Lecythis sp. based on Assunção et al. 722 from the Reserva Ducke, Amazonas, Brazil. The section cuts through the base of the ovary and the basal most piece on the left is still attached. Note that the ovary is 4-locular and that the hypanthia surface is very rough.
