  • Description

Pubescence consisting of a stellate trichome from an abaxial leaf blade surface of Couratari stellata based on Mori et al. 19401 from Km 41 (Reserve 1501) of the Biological Dynamics of Forest Fragments Project (BDFFP), Amazonas, Brazil. From a herbarium sheet. The trichome has a very faint "plus-shaped" suture in the middle suggesting that this kind of trichome may have evolved from simple trichomes to form a multicellular trichome but this hypothesis needs to be confirmed. SEM from a herbarium sheet.
