  Medial longitudinal section of an androecium and apical view of an ovary of Eschweilera complanata based on Jardim et al. 602 from Bahia, Brazil. Photo based on a boiled flower. Note that the androecium coils in once and that there are vestigial stamens on both the innier and outer surface of the coil. The calyx-lobes are fused at their bases to form a rim.
