  Medial longitudinal section of the androecial hood of Eschweilera complanata based on Jardim et al. 602 from Bahia, Brazil. Photo based on a boiled flower. Note that the hood is coiled in once and that there are vestigial stamens on both the inside and the outside of the coil.
