Basal view of a flower of Gustavia brachycarpa based on Batista et al. 1565 from Veraguaz, Panama. The hypanthium and pedicel are winged. Note the shriveled bract at the base of the pedicel/hypanthium and the smaller bracteole under the calyx on the left hand side of the pedicel/hypanthium.
