  Flowers of Symphyotrichum lateriflorum based on 27851 from the Westchester Wilderness Walk/Zofnass Family Preserve. The heads are small (ca. 5 mm). Note that the green part of the phyllary does not extend throughout the length of the phyllary. The photograph was taken from a herbarium specimen.
