    Abaxial leaf blade surfaces showing the stellate pubescence of Couratari macrosperma from NY sheet based on Kuhlmann 133 from the vicinity of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The leaves of this population are smaller than those of other eastern Brazilian species. Upper left: view of abaxial leaf blade toward base. Tufts are whitish to rust-colored. Upper right: close-up of preceeding. Dense whitish to rust-colored pubescence over the leaf blade. Lower left: SEM of stellate trichomes. Overall the trichomes are small (43µm to 353µm). Lower right: SEM of stellate trichomes, also showing the stomates.
