Description
Description - Leaf blades narrowly to widely elliptic, oblong to widely oblong, or narrowly ovate to lanceolate, 8-18.5 x 4-9.5 cm, with 17-23 pairs of lateral veins, the adaxial surface with conspicuous, longitudinally oriented striations. Calyx-lobes 5.58 x 3.5-5 mm.

Discussion
The two subspecies of L. corrugata are similar in all respects except for the longitudinally oriented leaf striations, which are marks left from folding of the leaf in aestivation, of subsp, rosea. This feature is correlated with the geographical distribution of the two subspecies and therefore there is no difficulty in placing a collection with one or the other of the subspecies.

Distribution
This subspecies is mainly found in Venezuela and Roraima Territory of Brazil. Numerous collections come from north of the Andes in the state of Zulia, Venezuela and one (Prance et al. 22934) comes from south of the Amazon River. It has been collected mostly from non-flooded forests but also occurs along rivers. Subspecies rosea flowers most profusely from Nov to Jan but flowering collections have also been made from Feb to Apr and in Sep.
