Description
Description - Subshrubs, ca 0.5 m tall. Stems glabrous. Leaves alternate; stipules caducous, filiform, glabrous; leaves subsessile, petioles less than 0.5 cm long, glabrous, glaucous, petiole attachment to lamina basal, nonpeltate; lamina slightly coriaceous, abaxial surface glaucous, abaxial surface wax pattern spongiose; venation camptodromous, veins glabrous; lamina nonlobed, lanceolate, ca 14.0 cm long, ca 4.0 cm wide, apex acute, base obtuse to acute. Inflorescence a monoecious, terminal, subspicate raceme, ca 15.0 cm long, all parts except interior surface of tepals glabrous, most of the parts glaucous; bracteoles and bractlets setaceous, less than 0.5 cm long, less than 0.1 cm wide, margins entire. Pistillate flowers restricted to the base of the upper half of the inflorescence, tepal 1.0 cm long, dark purplish, interior surface pubescent, cleft to base into 5 lobes, ovary subglobose. Staminate buds ovoid ellipsoid to fusiform, flowers infundibuliform to nearly tubular, tepal 1.0 cm long, interior surface pubescent, color same as that of pistillate tepal, cleft 1/3 way down into 5 lobes; stamens 10, in 2 whorls of 5 each. Capsules and seeds non vidi.
