Description
Description - Plant simple or pulvinate; stem 1 cm in diameter. Leaves (only the apical known); sheaths broadly ovate, serrulate at apex and reddish brown when dry, elsewhere entire and pallid; blades linear-lanceolate or linear, attenuate, slightly contracted at base and white, 5-10 cm long, 8-10 mm wide, very narrowly cartilagineous-margined, covered beneath with appressed cinereous scales, soon wholly glabrous, laxly serrulate. Inflorescence nidular, subglobose, 10-11> mm in diameter; outer bracts foliaceous but greatly reduced. Floral bracts elliptic, acuminate, about equaling the sepals, brown, slightly lepidote, membranaceous toward base, much thickened and pungent at apex; flowers subsessile. Sepals cochlear-imbricate, oblong, acute, 11-14 mm long, all highly connate, the posterior ones narrowly alate-carinate, inflexed at apex; petals flavous; ovary superior. Capsule ovoid, acute, 7 mm long.
