Description
Species Description - Branching perennial to 1 m; lvs linear to narrowly oblong, 2–6 cm × 3–8 mm, firm, sharply serrate to subentire; fls solitary in the axils; pedicels jointless, 5–25 mm, cal thinly stellate to glabrous, the midrib usually pilosulous; pet bright yellow, 10–15 mm; carpels commonly 10, each tipped by 2 slender, erect, puberulent beaks. Dry or moist soil; se. Va. to Tenn. and se. Mo., s. to Fla. and Tex. June–Aug. (S. inflexa)
