  • Description

    Description - Small trees. Leafy twigs 1-3.5 mm thick, yellow to brownish subtomentose to velutinous. Leaves oblong to lanceolate, often broadest near the lower end, mostly strongly inequilateral, 6-18 cm long, 1.5-8 cm broad, coriaceous to subcoriaceous, acuminate, the broader half mostly obtuse at the base, glabrous above, sparsely puberulous, glabrescent beneath; the costa and the proximal parts of the secondary veins prominent, otherwise the venation nearly plane to slightly impressed above, veins more or less prominent beneath, 13-20 pairs of secondary veins; petioles 3-10 mm long; stipules 7-17 mm long yellow to brownish subsericeous, often subpersistent. Staminate inflorescences 7-8 mm in diameter; peduncle 2-6 mm long, puberulous; involucre with 9-14 reniform to suborbiculate to ovate to subovate, obtuse to acute, sparsely puberulous to nearly glabrous bracts in 3-5 series; perianth 1.5-2.5 mm high, with 1-3 free tepals; stamens 2-4; filaments 1.0-1.5 mm long, anthers 0.4-0.8 mm long, o.2-0.5 mm broad, occasionally apiculate. Pistillate inflorescences 6-9 mm in diameter, sessile; involucre with 17-20 reniform to suborbiculate to deltoid to ovate to lanceolate, obtuse to acute, appressed-pubescent bracts in 5-6 series; flowers 5-8, only stigmas visible at anthesis; tepals free?, 0.5-1.5 mm long, about subulate, puberulous; style 1-1.5 mm long, stigmas vittiform, 9-12 mm long; pseudobracts similar to the tepals. Flowering from November to February.
