    Description - Plants branched, woody, clambering to the height of 5 to 10 meters ; ligule 1 to 2 mm. long; blades narrowly lanceolate, 6 to 12 cm. long, narrowed at base, puberulent beneath ; panicles 5 to 10 cm. long, the spikelets obovoid, 4 mm. long, black and hard at maturity.
