    Description - A rather stout erect perennial 40 to 60 cm. tall, with flat or loosely involute blades, densely pilose above near base, and dense narrow panicles 15 to 20 cm. long, the twisted column of the awns 2 to 3 cm. long, the awns 3 to 5 cm. long.
