Description
Description - Erect or prostrate herbs, quite branched from a taproot. Leaves opposite or subopposite, with prominent linear raphides. Flowers minute, in axillary or terminal panicles or in pedunculate heads; bracts and bracteoles hyaline; calyx constricted above the ovary, the upper portion with 5 lobes; stamens 1-6, the filaments free; ovary superior, the stigma capitate or peltate. Anthocarps dry, cuneiform or fusiform, usually with 5 ribs.
