    Species Description - A shrub, or a tree with maximum height of about 9 m., the thin bark reddish brown, the trunk seldom over 1.5 dm. in diameter, the young twigs 4-angled, glabrous. Leaves oblong or oblong-obovate, subcoriaceous, glabrous, 2-6 cm. long, obtuse or emarginate at the apex, narrowed at the base, the petioles very short; peduncles slender, 6-15 mm. long; petals about 2 mm. long; drupe ellipsoid, obtuse, 4-8 mm. long.

    Scrub-lands and coppices, throughout the archipelago from Abaco and Great Bahama to Andros, Caicos, Grand Turk and Inagua : Florida ; Cuba to St. Thomas and to St. Vincent; Jamaica; Mexico. Gyminda. False Boxwood. Walla-berry.
