    Description - Flowering plant 2 meters high; leaves in a bulbous rosette 25 cm. in diameter, 8 dm. long, sheatlis elliptic, 20 cm. wide, dark castaneous, subdensely appressed-white-lepidotc, blades 2-4 cm. wide, glabrous; scape straight, 2 cm. in diameter, its bracts foliaceous, the upper ones with sheaths shorter than the internodes; inflorescence amply paniculate, lax, 1 meter long, glabrous; primary bracts subfoliaceous; floral bracts broadly triangular; flowers subsessile, divergent, 9-12 mm. long; sepals broadly ovate, obtuse, cucullate, 4.5 mm. long; petals narrowly obovate; ovary terete, almost wholly inferior.
