    Species Description - Plants 1.3-2.5 mm wide, to 15 cm long, green to brown, usually (bi)pinnately branched, loosely ascending or pendent, not growing in dense patches. Vegetative branches usually Frullania-type, sexual branches Lejeunea-type. Leaf lobes (sub)imbricate, ovate, sometimes with a whitish border of 1-3 cell rows. Cells in midlobe isodiametrical to elongate, 15-25 µm long, walls evenly thickened; ocelli numerous, dispersed. Lobules as in genus. Underleaves (sub)imbricate, broadly ovate to reniform, 4-10 times stem width, apex plane or recurved, margins sometimes with a whitish border of 1-2 cell rows, insertion line arched. Dioicous. Gynoecia usually with 1 short, sterile innovation. Pe-rianth auricles very large, to 1/3 of perianth length, almost touching each other, leaving a very narrow opening above the deeply recessed beak, margins of auricles usually with a whitish border of 2-10 cell rows.
