    Species Description - Plants ca. 2 mm wide, usually brown, not blackish, creeping in dense mats. Leaf lobes plane or somewhat convex when moist, ob¬long, 1.6-2 times longer than wide, ventral margin plane or slightly upcurved, forming a wide angle with keel. Cells in midlobe 25-40 x 15-25 µm. Lobules ovate-rectangular, 1/5—1/3 of leaf length, free margin plane, with 1 short tooth, lobule apex not or shortly continuing into ventral margin of lobe. Underleaves imbricate, not squarrose, broadly obdeltoid, 3-5 times stem width, apex plane or recurved. Dioicous. Androecia on long branches bearing male bracts as well as vegetative leaves. Perianths 3-keeled, becoming 5-8-keeled (2-3 ventral) by additional folds.
