    Species Description - Plants 0.4-0.7 mm wide, dull, light green, brittle. Leaf lobes distant to subimbricate, obliquely spreading, ovate-elongate, plane, apex rounded to obtuse, margins entire. Cells in midlobe isodiametrical, ca. 15-25 µm, thin-walled, trigones small, intermediate thickenings scarce, cuticle papillose; oil bodies finely granular. Lobules often reduced, when well-developed ca. 2/5 of leaf length, strongly inflated, ovoid, lateral margin involute, apical tooth short, obtuse. Underleaves bifid to 1/2 of length, distant, ovate, 1.5-3 times stem width, lobes acute, margins with or without a tooth, insertion line weakly curved. Dioicous, mostly sterile. Male bracteoles present throughout spike. Perianths weakly flattened, keels smooth, Vegetative reproduction by fragmentation of shoots and by caducous branches.
