Description
Species Description - Plants ca. 3 mm wide, green to pale brown, irregularly branched, branches intercalary. Leaves distant to subimbricate, obliquely spreading, not ventrad, frequently caducous, subsymmetrically rectangular with almost straight, ventral and dorsal margins, widest near base, 2.5-3 times longer than wide, not ampliate; leaf margins not bordered, apex and ventral margin with 4-10 spinose teeth, the apex sometimes conspicuously bidentate with 2 short, triangular teeth (to 4 cells long) separated by a broad sinus; leaf bases very short and narrowly decurrent, leaf margin at ventral base plane. Cells in midleaf as in P. gymnocalycina, elongate-hexagonal, 25-40 x 20-25 µm, with well-developed, radiate trigones, cuticle smooth. Underleaves lacking or very tiny, lanceolate. Perianths enveloped by bracts.
