    Description - Plants 3-4 mm wide, to 10 cm long, little branched. Leaves obliquely spreading to squarrose, not conspicuously falcate-secund, ca. 2-1.5 times longer than wide, bifid to 1/2-2/3 of length, leaf lamina 1-1.5 times longer than wide, leaf segments strongly diverging, lanceolate, tapering to a short, 2-3 celled tip, leaf margins entire, leaf bases with short appendages. Vitta yellowish, bifurcating in lower 2.3 of lamina, narrow and sharply defined, 1/4-1/7 the width of base of leaf lobe. Leaf cells small, rhomboid, 20 x 12-15 µm, walls very thick, sinuose. Under leaves with segments conspicuously diverging. In submontane cloud forest (Mt. Galbao), common, 600- 700 m, on tree trunks and branches in the canopy.

    Synonymy follows Feldberg & Heinrichs (2006), but species rank of this taxon is provisionally maintained. The species is abundant on Mt. Galbao, where it was previously recorded as H. juniperoideus (Swartz) Grolle or H. divergens (Stephani) Herzog (Onraedt & Cremers, 1980; Gradstein & Hekking, 1989).
