  • Description

    Description - Thallus medium-sized, green, mostly prostrate, occasionally erect-dendroid from a creeping rhizome, simple or dichotomous. Midrib to 1/6 of thallus width, with 1(3) central strands of narrow, thick-walled cells. Thallus lamina undivided or lobed, margins entire or toothed, sometimes bordered by narrow cells, without hairs. Archegonia protected by a small scale. Sporophyte surrounded by a fleshy calyptra; pseudoperianth lacking. Capsule narrow-cylindrical, usually opening by 2 valves.
