This is a variable species, with a vast synonymy. Our material can be segregated as var. glaucescens (Homschuch) Florschutz [Syn.: P. glaucescens (Homschuch) Paris]. It is recognized by leaves at the stem apices not hooked and with a percurrent costa. The var. uncinata has leaves hooked at stem apices and an excurrent costa.
