    Species Description - Plants small, 0.5-1.5 cm tall, dull, green or yellowish brown, in mostly lax tufts; stems often forked by innovation. Leaves ± spreading and somewhat contorted when dry, erect-spreading when moist, ± equally spaced on stems, mostly lanceolate, gradually acuminate, not decurrent, ca. 2-3 x 0.5-0.6 mm; margins entire or weakly serrulate above, indistinctly bordered, usually very narrowly recurved below, costa long-excurrent, the hair point not toothed; cells long-hexagonal, ca. 4-5:1, 45-60(75) x 12-15 µm, gradually narrowed toward the margins; basal cells rather abruptly short-rectangular. Asexual propagula not seen. Dioicous. Setae 1-3 cm long; capsules 1.5-2.3 mm long, pendent, with a well developed, wrinkled neck broadei than the urn; peristome well developed.

    In open sun or dappled shade, un common but locally abundant within the village of Saul, ca. 200 m, on clay soils, especially in disturbed areas.
