    Species Description - Plants small, 0.4-1 cm tall, bright to yellowish green, in mostly lax tufts; stems often reddish. Leaves erect-appressed when dry, erect-spreading when moist, ± equally spaced on stems, lanceolate, acute to short-acuminate, not decurrent, to 1.8 x 0.6 mm; margins entire to serrulate at extreme apex, not bordered; costa apiculate, per- current to short-excurrent; cells oblong-rhomboidal, ca. 8-10:1, to 110 x 12 µm; basal cells abruptly subquadrate to short-rectangular in 3-4 rows. Asexual propagula common, in leaf axils, short-stalked, reddish, bulbous. Dioicous. Setae 1.5-3 cm long; capsules 2-3 mm long, horizontal to pendent; peristome well developed.

    In open sunny areas, uncommon, ca. 200 m, on soil and rocks, especially in disturbed areas.
