    Species Description - Very slender and delicate, 2–4.5 dm, erect, glaucescent, drying pale; stems 0.5 mm wide or less; lvs less than 1 mm wide, the bases persisting as stiff fibers; spathes (1)2(3) at the top of the simple stem, the outer (lower) ones with an erect, setaceous outer bract 2–8.5 cm, the other bracts 1–1.5 cm, subequal, often purplish-tinged, hyaline margined; tep 6–8 mm, light blue-violet; fr 2–3 mm. Flatwoods and pinelands; se. Va. to Fla.
