    Species Description - Annual; culms tufted, decumbent at the base and rooting at the lower nodes, the nodes pubescent; sheaths glabrous, pilose at the throat; blades flat, 2-6 cm. long, 2-5 mm. wide, glabrouis, the margins white- cartilaginous; ligule ciliate, about 1 mm. long; raceme 2-6.5 cm. long; spikelets 5 mm. long; first glume 3 mm. long, 3-nerved, obtuse, bearing a dense tuft of hairs in the center of the back just above the middle, the upper portion of the back glabrous, the margins densely appressed- pilose on the lower half; second glume 3 mm. long, 3-nerved, acuminate, the margins and upper part of back densely appressed-pilose, the hairs on the back at the tip much longer than the others; sterile lemma 4 mm. long, the margins densely appressed-pilose on the upper half; fruit 3 mm. long, abruptly acuminate, yellowish, smooth and shining
